About North Penn Mosque

North Penn Mosque (NPM) is a registered nonprofit Islamic organization established in 2000 in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Rooted in the principles of the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the Mosque is committed to advancing Islamic faith, strengthening moral character, promoting education, fostering community unity, and serving humanity with compassion and integrity.

North Penn Mosque serves as a center for spiritual development, religious education, community engagement, and social responsibility. Through daily congregational prayers, Islamic educational programs, charitable initiatives, family and youth activities, interfaith dialogue, and community outreach, NPM strives to nurture a community that reflects the highest ethical and moral standards of Islam.

Recognizing that a mosque has responsibilities extending beyond congregational worship, NPM seeks to cultivate an environment where Islamic values are translated into meaningful action, where individuals and families receive guidance and support, and where relationships among people of diverse backgrounds are strengthened through mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation.

Our institutional philosophy is founded upon sincerity in worship, responsible stewardship, collective consultation, accountability, and a steadfast commitment to the welfare of the community.

Our Vision

To be a leading Islamic institution that inspires spiritual excellence, strengthens Muslim identity, promotes unity and understanding, and contributes positively to the well-being of society through the timeless teachings of Islam.

North Penn Mosque envisions a thriving, knowledgeable, compassionate, and united community guided by faith, ethical responsibility, and a shared dedication to serving Allah (SWT) and humanity.

Our Mission

The mission of North Penn Mosque is to seek the pleasure of Allah (SWT) by fostering an environment that supports Islamic worship, religious education, moral development, family well-being, community service, and constructive engagement with society.

We are committed to preserving Islamic teachings, empowering future generations, encouraging responsible citizenship, supporting those in need, and promoting peaceful coexistence through mutual respect and meaningful dialogue.

Our Five Foundational Islamic Principles

1. Sincerity, Trust, and Nonprofit Service (Ikhlas and Amanah)

North Penn Mosque is established and operated exclusively for religious, educational, charitable, and community-benefiting purposes.

Our institutional responsibilities are guided by Ikhlas (sincerity) and Amanah (trustworthiness). We recognize that organizational leadership, financial resources, community contributions, and public confidence constitute sacred trusts that must be managed with honesty, transparency, accountability, and responsibility.

The Mosque is committed to ensuring that its activities and resources serve the collective interests of the community rather than personal or private gain.

Qur’anic Foundation:

“Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due.”

— Surah An-Nisa, 4:58

2. Spiritual Excellence, Moral Integrity, and Social Development (Tazkiyah and Ihsan)

North Penn Mosque is dedicated to the comprehensive development of individuals and families within the framework of the Qur’an and Sunnah.

We believe that authentic Islamic development encompasses spiritual purification, moral excellence, the pursuit of beneficial knowledge, strong family relationships, and social responsibility.

Through worship, education, mentorship, and community programs, NPM seeks to nurture individuals who demonstrate faith, integrity, discipline, compassion, and excellence in their personal and public lives.

Qur’anic Foundation:

“Indeed, Allah commands justice, good conduct, and giving to relatives.”

— Surah An-Nahl, 16:90

3. Humility, Compassion, and Human Dignity (Tawadu, Rahmah, and Karamah)

North Penn Mosque upholds humility, compassion, and human dignity as essential principles of Islamic character and institutional conduct.

Islam teaches that every human being possesses inherent dignity and deserves to be treated with justice, kindness, and respect.

Accordingly, NPM is committed to creating a welcoming, respectful, and supportive environment that promotes compassion, protects dignity, assists vulnerable individuals, and encourages service without discrimination.

These principles guide our relationships within the Muslim community and our engagement with neighbors, organizations, and individuals of all faiths and backgrounds.

Qur’anic Foundation:

“And We have certainly honored the children of Adam.”

— Surah Al-Isra, 17:70

4. Unity, Consultation, and Institutional Continuity (Wahdah, Shura, and Istiqamah)

North Penn Mosque recognizes that unity, consultation, mutual respect, and organizational continuity are fundamental to a strong and sustainable Islamic institution.

Guided by the Islamic principle of Shura (mutual consultation), we encourage collective decision-making, responsible leadership, constructive dialogue, and cooperation in matters affecting the community.

We remain committed to resolving differences with wisdom, fairness, patience, and respect while safeguarding the unity of the congregation and preserving the long-term mission of the Mosque.

Institutional stability, continuity of service, and responsible succession are essential to fulfilling our obligations to present and future generations.

Qur’anic Foundations:

“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.”

— Surah Aal-Imran, 3:103

“And whose affair is determined by consultation among themselves.”

— Surah Ash-Shura, 42:38

5. Community Welfare and Service to Humanity (Khidmah and Maslahah)

North Penn Mosque affirms that the ultimate beneficiaries of its programs, services, charitable resources, and institutional efforts must be the community and society at large.

Our commitment to Khidmah (service) reflects the Islamic responsibility to promote public welfare, care for neighbors, assist those facing hardship, support families, educate future generations, and contribute to the common good.

NPM seeks to translate Islamic principles into practical community benefit through charitable assistance, educational opportunities, social services, youth development, interfaith engagement, and collaborative initiatives.

We believe that the lasting measure of an Islamic institution is reflected not only in the worship it facilitates but also in the positive difference it makes in the lives of people.

Qur’anic Foundation:

“And cooperate in righteousness and piety.”

— Surah Al-Ma’idah, 5:2
